No Singles on New Manic Street Preachers Album

The Manic Street Preachers have announced that there will be no singles released from their new album Journal for Plague Lovers. Whilst speaking to Xfm James Dean Bradfield said "It's hard to envisage some of these lyrics being played as a single. It's just such a body of work and the concerns of somebody that didn't care about commercial success. We did worry that our record company wouldn't know how to handle it, but they've been pretty gracious."

"I think there's an element of bafflement and bemusement on their behalf," added Nicky Wire. "But it's a tribute to Richey... It's a tribute to the notion of an 'album'. It feels kind of old fashioned, it's pre-digital. It was written on a typewriter because Richey never had a mobile phone or a laptop. We recorded it on analogue tape with no computers." New Manic Street Preachers Album out 18th May - Journal for Plague Lovers

With the new album out on the 18th May entitled Journal for Plague Lovers can we finally say its a new Manics Album that we can love a
gain? For me the last best album was the Holy Bible, Richey Edwards was an incredibly gifted Poet and James Dean Bradfield had an incredible pair of shoes to fill. Yes his songs were catchy but they were incredibly commercial, they lacked the anger, the politicalism, they just didn't have the energy of Richey's Songs. I'm hoping by going back to Richey's Musicless Lyrics it has inspired them with the confidence to Rock out again! I leave you with the lyrics to my Favourite Manics Song. Let me know your comments.

4st 7lb
Days since I last pissed
Cheeks sunken and despaired
So gorgeous sunk to six stone
Lose my only remaining home
See my third rib appear
A week later all my flesh disappear
Stretching taut, cling-film on bone
I'm getting better
Karen says Ive reached my target weight
Kate and emma and kristin know its fake
Problem is diets not a big enough word
I wanna be so skinny that I rot from view
I want to walk in the snow
And not leave a footprint
I want to walk in the snow
And not soil its purity
Stomach collapsed at five
Lift up my skirt my sex is gone
Naked and lovely and 5st. 2
May I bud and never flower
My visions getting blurred
But I can see my ribs and I feel fine
My hands are trembling stalks
And I can feel my breasts are sinking
Mother trys to choke me with roast beef
And sits savouring her sole ryvitta
Thats the way you re built my father said
But I can change, my cocoon shedding
I want to walk in the snow
And not leave a footprint
I want to walk in the snow
And not soil its purity
Kate and kristin and kit kat
All things I like looking at
Too weak to fuss, too weak to die
Choice is skeletal in everybodys life
I choose, my choice, I starve to frenzy
Hunger soon passes and sickness soon tires
Legs bend, stockinged I am twiggy
And I don't mind the horror that surrounds me
Self-worth scatters, self-esteems a bore
I long since moved to a higher plateau
This disciplines so rare so please applaud
Just look at the fat scum who pamper me so
Yeh 4st. 7, an epilogue of youth
Such beautiful dignity in self-abuse
Ive finally come to understand life
Through staring blankly at my navel.
